Book Review: The Wedding Night

I just finished an incredibly hilarious yet heartwarmingly beautiful book, one I devoured in 3 days! It was so good that I wish it didn’t have to end! There are only a handful of books that leaves with you feeling satisfied ! For me, this new novel “The Wedding Night” by Sophie Kinsella is definitely one of them!

From the time I discovered Sophie Kinsella, I have read almost all her novels! I got introduced to this amazing author through her novel ‘I’ve got your number’ and from then on, I became a huge fan of her work! Read her books yourself and you will understand what I’m talking about! Every one of her books is a witty, enjoyable read and this one – The Wedding Night – was no different!

In The Wedding Night, we are taken through the lives of sisters – Lottie and Fliss – two endearing characters who are different, unique and interesting in their own way.

After a misunderstanding between Lottie and her boyfriend Richard ends in a breakup, she reconnects with an old flame Ben to mend her broken heart. A couple of drinks later, Lottie decides that she’s in love with Ben. Fliss doesn’t think much of this since she’s expecting Lottie’s new found romance to wear off in a couple of days! But when Lottie announces her decision of marrying Ben, Fliss thinks Lottie is making a huge mistake. With help from Ben’s best friend Lorcan, Fliss flies to Ikonos to stop the wedding and bring her sister back to her senses.

Though all the characters were equally entertaining, I liked Fliss and her son Noah the most. A mischievous troublemaker, Noah added a lot of fun and liveliness to the story. The ending was the best bit in the book. It was the perfect climax to a beautiful story. I can go and go about this book, that’s just how much I loved the book. This is one of those books I wouldn’t mind reading again and again!

So my fellow readers, if you are looking for a simple, light hearted comedy with plenty of laugh out loud moments, this one is definitely for you!
