Author Spotlight: LIANE MORIARTY

In my reading journey, there was a time when I had decided not to experiment with new authors. After a couple of too many misses than hits and tired from one too many disappointing reads, I had made up my mind to stick to the authors whose works I had read and whose writing style I was familiar with. However, on a subsequent visit to the bookstore, I found myself leaning towards a particular title that caught my eye. It had quite an unusual, curiousity-evoking name and an eye catching cover art. The only glitch, it was written by an author I hadn’t heard of. Set firm in my determination to avoid the mistakes of the past, I kept scouting for other interesting reads, only to come back to this one again and again. And just like that, despite all my resolve, I took home a new book by a new author, which I realized later, was one of the best things to have happened to me. The book I’m referring to is ‘The Big Little Lies‘ authored by the extremely talented bestselling author, Liane Moriarty.

From the very first page, Big Little Lies kept me enthralled, and at the edge of my seat. The plot was brilliantly woven, the characters created with a lot of thought and care, but what stood out for me the most during that entire reading experience was the real to life element in the story. It was witty, it was emotional, it was anxiety-inducing, and it was heart rending. Needless to say, I was on an emotional rollercoaster the whole time. I had never experienced a bookish adventure quite like this. And with that one book, Liane Moriarty put some much needed sense into me and made me want to experiment with new authors again.

Liane Moriarty’s ability to touch the human soul is true of all her books. She truly has an uncanny, enviable ability to weave magic in all her books with characters that touch your heart with every passing event. Be it ‘Truly, Madly, Guilty‘, ‘The Husband’s Secret‘ or ‘Three Wishes‘, every one of her book speaks to the soul. And it’s not just the relatability of characters, the topics she chooses to highlight via the story and the beautiful manner in which she deals with the sensitive themes is spectacular.

I could go on and on about what makes Liane Moriarty one of the finest authors ever but some experiences are best had than said. So, please pick up a Liane Moriarty book asap and experience the magic of her words. Trust me, it is truly something! ๐Ÿงก
